Hi my name is David and as my ID suggests I came into this hobby flying gliders. I joined a couple of years ago and have lurked and read in amazement some of the threads that you guys post. For the last couple of years I have been planing a 1/3 scale se5a from the Replicraft drawings. John Ransome's electric Corsair thread got me interested in this site and Davidq's DB 1/4 scale has been an inspiration and has already caused me to invest in a lathe and a milling machine for when I start to build!
I will start a build thread when I commence the build but until then thanks for inspiring me to broaden my modelling base!!

Hello David Glideguider!  Glad you spoke up.  Jim's drawings are as much works of art as construction drawings.  He is a member of my club and I well remember him cursing the SE as he was drawing it - mumbling about no 2 fittings being the same!

1/3 scale would be awesome - it sounds as if you are thinking of going electric?

BTW - Williams Brothers is working on 1/3 scale wheels, they may be ready when you are!

Yes it is going to be electric with a Benedini sound system. Thanks for the note about the wheels. They were the one issue that I didn't really have a satisfactory solution for. The 1/3 scale version is a bit off being started as I still have a number of other projects to complete before I can get my teeth into it. Davidq's SE5a build thread has been a revelation for me but having big hands I think the level of detail I want will only be achievable by me at the larger scale.
