Howdy all,
As I mentioned, already "jumped in", with both feet first, after finding threads worthy of 'watching' (well, to my interests, anyway).
I've had a bit of an "hiatus" ...(or is it "a" hiatus?)... in any case, some personal financial SNAFUs have intervened, for the last several years...(not the least, well...losing my career at a major airline, but since this is an introduction thread that I've now started in the "Introduce Yourself" Forum, I thought it best to "come clean").
Had a successful, +26-year airline career (in the USA, with a well-known Major, recently merged and has now become "Untied"....hint, hint...oh, and spelling was intentional...) until being foiled by some "medical" issues.
Regardless, my aviation background included civilian only (sorry, no military experience). Started building/flying R/C in my teens...co-incidentally, same time I began to fly full-scale.
Speaking of "scale", that has always been my primary interest, and the "monkey on my back", because I am my own worst critic, and (sometimes) a bit too 'perfectionist', I suppose. I have found this to impede my progress, at times.
If anyone wishes to discuss 1:1 flying, 'PLZ' feel free to PM...I am type-rated on the DC-9(MD-80), B-737 and B-757/767 (though, far from "current", however I try to "keep up"), and have other past experience as well. (B-727, DC-10, A-300-B4).
Cheers to all, and especially "kudos" to the Staff and Admin of this great R/C discussion site!!
TJ
(PS...Flight Pack batteries! Oh, don't get me started, but, the recent B-787 "troubles"?? Something to keep in mind, perhaps?)

Welcome aboard. I Know of what you speak. I fly for the "bankrupt" carrier. I still haven't figured out how you can be bankrupt with over 4 billion cash, ...but I digress...This is a great site. alot of great builds here. What are you thinking of for your first scale project ? I am finishing up a giant sweet and low stik, build thread on RCU, then it's the Meister Spitfire... Once again, welcome. I look forward to watching your builds.
Dennis

Welcome from someone who made a career out of career changes, my experience lead me to view such earning interruptions as opportunities for change. I know what you mean about perfectionism, it's something I'm trying to avoid by building "stand back an squint" scale, at least with my current build. Enjoy the company here, they seem to be a helpful bunch.

Welcome from me too.
Sorry to hear you we're grounded due to medical reasons.
I too am an airline pilot, flying 747-400 and 747-8 for Lufthansa.
This truly is the best website for RCU scale!

Grasp the opportunities which rise from the deficits where change was made for change sake by others. It is what it is, take the opportinity to grow in a long desired avenue of your life. Modeling is the glue to bind it all together...and keep you mentally well.
Welcome aboard the good ship retirement, regardless your age...it is what it is...and what you make of it each day.
