Thanks for the link, Pete.

I am a bit of a hoarder at times, and I did keep a heat sink like the one in your pic that was off the top ofan old charger. I could screw that directly onto the ali cover, but I will stick to the plan and just take it one step at a time.

Our rain has ceased and the sun is out.   Time to try a bit of paint.

First the prep. The leggings and spats have been washed down with degreaser first. The they were given a good rub down with wet 400 all over, inside leg and out.

In doing this I decided to plate over the split in the litho above the left strut seating.

A few years ago when our aging F111s were still in service they developed splits and cracks here and there in their wing skins. The RAAF decided to go the quick, cheap and easy way to fix these faults. They simply glued on plates over the cracks. Araldite was use as the adhesive.

With this in mind I will fashion a litho plate and use it to cover the split on the top of the left legging. I will use Araldite!

The split is vertical and furrowed.

Most of the plating on this side is beat up. I like the look of it!

A bit of litho was cut to shape and a couple of rivets were punched in so as they were in line with the existing ones remaining on the main plate. This will not be annealed. There are enough dents doing the rounds here already.

This plate will be stuck down with 48 hr Araldite, clamped and left to cure.

All of the above washed, cleaned and rubbed back. Ready for a bit of paint.

The spidery spies' ladder is just hanging out to dry having had matt black brushed on by hand. The tops of the steps have yet to be painted white.

The final fitting will be the last thing that is done before the next scale day as they are terribly prone to hangar rash.

Time for another dark java juice. How would we survive without this nectar?

Ken

Ken.
Araldite brings back so many memories, I didn't know it still existed .Some time in the sixties, when I lived in the UK, I owned several second hand Citroen DS 19 cars.  Amazing vehicles!

The cylinder head was aluminum and the previous owners had not used the correct anti freeze for aluminum. so the antifreeze they used ate away some of the head block and we had water going into the cylinders.

I took it apart removing the head and the valve gear and rebuilt the water chambers in the head block with araldite, left it to completely cure, cleaned it up, put it all back together and ran it for many miles without any further water leaks.

The car would have to be trashed without it. Sorry to distract from your rehab, but that brought back memories so strong, I just had to post.
Alan

If I ever finish work on my new shed I’ll get back to all the unfinished projects I have
Hope you’re staying safe

I have never taken the Lizzie it to Strathalbyn.

I took the 1/4 Wilga. You won the Model of the Meet with your Tiggie? I know that because Libby and daughter Caroline were roped into being the judges ! And they gave me no votes.

Did you not see it at Luskintyre where it won Model of the Meet ? Or at Temora??

Have a warm milk, and a long rest. You will come good.

Never mind, you can get on with the finishing up of projects as soon as the new shed is up and running.

Cheers

Ken

Yes, Alan we have had Araldite in Oz forever. You can get 5 min, 15 min, and 48 hr Araldite.

The blue tube is the hardener for the 48 hr stuff ... dunno where the red tube got to at camera time !
