'Had forgotten to mention it. The above publication is with out doubt in my humble opinion the definitive work on Lysanders overall. It is out of print but you can still find the odd copy. Mark you when I bought mine about 14 years ago it was $60 AUD. I have seen them for as much as $600 USD but I did find a used copy for a mere $210 USD about 4 years ago when hunting for a friend.
The back office ... spies corner ... is unchanged and still in good nick. Even the radio under the back shelf is up to muster. The huge fuel tank ... you can just see the back end corner in the top pic on the RHS up top ... is also in pristine condition. No work to do there.
I made the glass/carbon spinner cone from a plug, and Stan, and old friend of mine (recently passed) made the cone nut and back plate. The spinner had a nasty starter rubber groove in it. That has just been filled, sanded, primed and painted. Funny set up where it is on the front of the propeller. The two props that have been run forever, both wood, one 32 x 18 and the other 32 x 14 have been painted black after a good rub down (with safety yellow tips) and balanced.
The Moki 215 has been run up before I did any work on the plane ... except for the props. There was an unaccepted level of vibration at top rpm which was 4400 on the 32 x 14. On inspection I found that the backing plate was crushed and split ! The whole works had to come to bits for a thorough examination. The plate was useless and thrown in the bin. A new one was made with carbon matt reinforcement. Extra bolts and T nuts were added to the plate as well.
"Tea time" which is silly talk for coffee and Blueberry muffins. Colombian straight goes well with them.
