Hello everyone from Virginia! I'm glad I stumbled upon this site and the wealth of information contained herein!

I started flying RC planes in the late 90's while still in middle school but got away from the hobby after graduating from high school. Never lost interest but was too preoccupied with everything else in life. After changing employers 3 years ago (nice to be back down to just 40 hours/week!) along with the pandemic, I've had more time to be able to get back in.

I used to either fly ARFs or planes built by fellow club members but I'm committed to building myself now. Much more satisfying. Currently building a Sig Kadet Seniorita but I aspire to move up to functional, faithful scale renditions of my favorite aircraft. Recently came upon plans for a 1/9 scale B-26K/A-26A Counter Invader and will slowly work my way to doing it justice, both in construction and in flying. I'll be sure to read as much as I can and ask questions accordingly!

Welcome. Great to hear you're building.
At some point you may want to consider becoming a site supporter member. Well worth the annual price.

Then you can post pictures of your build.

Thanks! Yes, I'll definitely consider it. Not expensive for what you get.

Foxtrot:

I agree with John on the support part of your membership. You won’t regret it. There are active vendors who will offer discounts to the members, there are several members who have access to a wealth of information on the real aircraft, models, competition, scale details & so much more. Welcome to this site.

No such thing as dumb or newbie questions. Please ask!

Cheers,

Welcome from Michigan.  What part of Virginia?  I spent 30 years in NOVA.  Don't miss it a bit but some good clubs in the area.

I'm just southwest of Richmond in Midlothian but I try to avoid going to NOVA for the traffic if I can!

I'm with you there!  I actually worked in DC my first 4 years there and in the following 26 went there maybe 5 times.  Wife and I use to average 20,000 miles each on our cars to/from work.  Now retired in Michigan we do a total of less than 10,000 per year.  I sometimes question the wisdom of having gone to NOVA in the first place.
