Just wish to introduce myself. I'm Dave, retired in the land of the Ozarks MO. As far back as I can remember I have had a passion for aviation. WW11 Warbirds in particular. I can recall our black and white 12" Zenith TV, me on the wood floor with elbos on the floor and the palms of my hands holding my chin, watching. The interruption of games of baseball or two square I would cause because of an airplane passing overhead. The first rubber powered "Arrow" by Guillows Models I tried to build, then another, and another. Finally an older brother came to my rescue and taught me how to read a plan, and the importance of patience. My mom calling out, "you're in that dope again, open a window"!! That was probably 1967. In 1969, Santa brought me an all black, and very shinny, COX Stucka. A real nitro engine! My paper route money kept the airplane in tip top shape, as it seemed each attempt to fly it brought a new mishap of some type, demanding replacement parts. I still have that Stucka. The box, the tools, control handle with dirt stained string, and fuel can. My paper route funded my next projects as well. The Lil Satin, with a 049 Babe Bee, and the Sterling P-51 Mustang with a Fox .35. My My My. My family would not see me for days except to eat and sleep, and occasionally catch a war movie on the floor of the living room. My Pop in his easy chair. But..... it was now a color tv, 19" in a console with a record player too.
High school, girls, cars all become a distraction for a bit. But.... I returned to my passion. That passion put me through school and a career in aviation. 27 yrs. Millions of miles, all over the world. Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Falcon and Gulfstreem. During that time I still pursued my modeling. My Stucka and Fox engines soon became Sig RC Models, and OS engines. As they became giant's and powered by Zenoah and Quadra, I was lucky enough to become a part of the Byron Show Team, as a Zero pilot.....years of fun and hard work, but mostly fun.
Retired 8 yrs now, that passion still fuels my soul. My building skills greatly improved, I fly most anything. Foamies. ARFs. Oldie and Goldie kits by Great Planes. Also I build from kits and plans. Most all the Byron line, Bates, Ziroli, Don Smith, and others. With my "current project a 1/6 Scale Bates B-26" that I will put into my father's scheme. He was one of the original B-26 crews to fly from the Omaha Plant to Tunnis North Africa. From there he flew 52 missions both sides of the Mediterranean in the battle against Hitler. He was a Tail Gunner. His typical ride was in "Bucket O Bolts". Here is a link to his dedication page on

So. That's me in a nutshell. My bomber is framed. Working out all the mechanics. Gear, engines, etc. Any interest in a build thread on this bomber? Just let me know.

The site supporter comes with a lot of benefits and is cheap enough. There is some world class talent on here that is always ready to help out. My wife's uncle landed on Normandy and is still alive today. Always good to hear stories of the people that fought in WW2.

Welome on board. Becoming a site supporter will be the most "Bang for the buck" you will ever get for $20.
Looking forward to your B-26 thread.
