Hello guys,
Hope all is well with all. I got the Phoenix Stinson Voyager ARF kit, I have an electric set up for it, rim fire 46 etc... and a I have a SAITO FG-11. Really like to install a gasser in this plane, recommended prop for break in is 13x7, smallest 12x7?. Is this too much prop for this model? Please advise

Forgot to mention turning it into a bush plane, thinking 3 to 3 1/4” fat tires as well

Most of us aren't familiar with the plane so this is were you post a link and it will take you to the website.
The U turn symbol second from the Right above.
Stinson
That being said the engine I am vaguely familiar with
Saito Fg-11
So it looks like this would be Ok but I believe it will be too strong an engine for this application. IMHO
And I bet you will have to hack up the cowl as well for it to fit.

Hi Tim,
A few months ago I was thinking of building a WW2 twin , when it comes to fighters and looks and allied forces the Mosquitoes and P38 fit the bill !
I’ve just found a company local to print off the plans to build the same kit you have :)
As I cannot store or easily fly over 75” spans this is the one to build !
Hopefully i will get some progress soon that maybe of help as a lot of weight has to be removed from this design to make it a runner!
I recon the basic changes are one piece tail with booms
Reduce all plywood’s with laminated balsa where possible
Cut out all formers from lite ply and remove the centres
Fabricate cowls in grp or carbon epoxy
Ensure servos are on or forward of C of G
Go electric :) (ensuring the batteries go in the cockpit pod) max capacity to balance
I’m not sold on going into plug in wing half’s outboard of the booms due to a weight increase and with the designed tail off situation it should be easy to transport :)
I wish you luck with your first scale model and hopefully you get pleanty of experience in :)

Hey Guys,
Just an update, can’t work on the P-38 right now, miserable here In so cal. Can’t work in garage. Made a balsa board and set up in living room. Building a good old Guillow’s kit 509 TBF Avenger, seen video on rc conversion, has anyone ventured here? I think the bl180 that I have would too much.

Tim:
There’s a YouTube video of converting the Guillow’s TBF Avenger to R/C. By the way, I’m building & super-detailing a Guillow’s P-51. It’ll be a ground pounder for sure. It’ll make some farmer really happy as it creates deep furrows in the dirt as it does a fast taxi up & down the field. But boy, it’ll sure look nice!
Shifted from your left shoulder to your right shoulder on Vulture’s Row... :0)
Miss the ol’ Valley. Visited the place awhile back & there have been many changes but the traffic on the -405 is still deadlocked, just like old times. I wonder if they’re the same cars....

Hi TimP38,
I just saw this post. This is Vic, I too live in Burbank, a few blocks from Portos. Come visit me! Anyways, 20 or so years ago, the ghost of Lockheed in Burbank got the best of me and I built a P38. of course there is lot more to just building a P38.
You worked at Hobby People, wow even a smaller world, you probably know Alex, I call him 'Alex the Russian Spy' as he frequent my shop trying to see all my secrets. Alex and I recently are doing Warbird Wednesdays at the Basin.
PM, your welcome to come over my little Burbank shop (garage hanger) to chill and talk about warbirds!
Vic

Vic,
Would it be okay if Tim brings his ghost vulture sitting on his shoulder? I promise not to make a sound...;0)
