Your CI looks fantastic both on the ground and in the air!  I'm amazed that it survived that first flight.

Alan:

The Albatros with the Moki appears as if the CG was to far aft, and you can see that it looks as if it is in full stall mode with the full up elevator before she snapped in. The Quadra 75 looks as if it put the CG in the proper place.

Abu. Thanks, amazingly there was very little damage, I expected to find a pile of trashed wood.

Dan.
You could be right, but it is too long ago to remember.  That was NOT the first flight, I had flown it several times before with the Webra but on that flight you can see it was very smokey, probably too rich, and not developing enough power. It was always "on the edge" with that engine.
I never used a GLOW engine again.

The Q-75 is certainly heavier but also far more powerful. I don't remember the prop size for the Webra, but I was using a 24X10 with the Quadra which, according to the manual develops 8.0 BHP

It was a Big Bird the wing span was 127 inches!

Flying at Old Rhinebeck can be tricky. If you go Right to Left it is uphill all the way, and the opposite coming the other way. You can see that with the landing on the second video as I try to get the wheels on the ground, while the ground keeps moving away!

The gunner sat on top of a servo. Back then we stopped for lunch and let everyone come and look close up at the models.
The kids are always fascinated with a pilot figure so I would leave the radio turned on, stay away, and watch for some youngsters and their parents to get close to the gunner-and then turn him to face them.

The reaction was always fun..

Here's one more photo. (Not at Old Rhinebeck)

Yeah I'm real tired of both glow, to messy and expensive, and electrics. The electric scale stuff it is so hard to get batteries in to where you can not see them for a 6-8 minute flight. 16oz of gas and I can fly for a long time! I have a Hurrel Albatros C2 that is on a .91 4-stroke. Built it years ago, still have it and it is a good flier. I have been to that WWI jamboree up at Rhinebeck 6 times coming from Minneapolis. It was easy to get to when I worked for the airlines, just book yourself and go, always stayed in Kingston, always had a great time there!
