Just wanted to show off my Super Skybolt that a long time friend gave me today. This plane was built some 20 years ago by a master builder, flown twice and then turned into a hangar queen because it was too nice to risk crashing. I got it home today and since I still consider it a masterpiece, I will also keep it as a hangar queen to brighten up my workshop.

... what Sparky said. I don't see why this should be a hangar queen.

I would fly it as well— some builders on this forum have built veritable museum pieces over the course of several years with engineering acuity I would have a hard time accomplishing—Kwik, Detlef, and boB’ soon to fly Dauntless to name only a few. They flew (and boB’s will too) even though we all know the planes (like us) all have an expiration date . That said, your choice

Take lots of photos to "brighten up your workshop".

Then go fly it!

All very good points guys. It's just hard to for me to see a plane build and covered with such perfection to risk seeing it re-kitted., LOL. I will give it some thought but for now, I have enough other planes to fly than to risk this one. The Super Skybolt was always one of a few of my favorites.

Clean plane.  Fly it!  I have one that I had a friend build me.  It has a smoke system and Saito 125 on it.  They are excellent flyers and to my surprise deadsticks pretty well for a biplane.  I will have to get some pics and post mine.  I did a fancy custom covering job on it.

Awesome, I'd like to see the pics. I may change my mind, who knows. It would sure make a beautiful flyer!
