Hello there from the "old country" across the pond.

I've been flying scale models for the past 40+ years and competed at many competitions and fortunate enough to have won the National Championships in my class a few times.

There is a big but, I fly free flight scale and wondered if there is enough room for a rooky that does not use the magic model moving box.(R/C)
My models are as accurate and as realistic as possible given that they are relatively small. Usually about 45 to 50 inch span.

See Forum under, scratch built, DH4 Mailplane.

Just by chance my latest model is an American Liberty powered DH4 Mailplane.

It flies very well and is stable after some prolonged trimming sessions. If the covid lockdown is raised before too long I hope to compete with it through the season.

Visit my website a for a better idea of what I do. http://www.freeflightscale.co.uk

Mike Smith.

Hi Mike,
Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay.
Free flight is how I started with sticks, dope and tissue. They could smell dope from a mile away! For this reason, I became a family nuisance so I had to move on to r/c with different covering systems and larger planes.

Anyway, wish you all the best and hope you can make friends as well. Many knowledgeable persons here. I always watch and see what I can do better
to improve my skills.

Anyway, stay safe!

Reuben

I havent been here long myself, sort of. But I certainly hope so! Scale modeling is the hard part of this hobby and I for one would love to learn more from another scale master.

Beautiful airplane!

Absolutely & welcome aboard! I think many of us have FF in our experience. You will have much to teach! I did a lot of peanut scale a while back!

Mike,
Yes, you’re definitely welcome. They even tolerate my small (but super scale) Guillow’s models.

Your DH-4 is great! Please share with us your experiences.

Mike. A tip for you.
When you post text or photos hit your enter key TWICE between posts.
Then your posts will all line up vertically with a two line space between them.
They don't run into one another then.
Following with interest.

A big welcome to RCSB .
