I never learned how to use the rudder I should maybe get on that. Less likely to spin if it's coordinated. [/QUOTE>

Definitely learn to use that rudder, it is your friend and can get you out of trouble, especially in a crosswind.

Thanks. I'm ok with it on takeoff and landing, but in flight I go to crank/yank mode. Habits of an Open B combat flier.

Congratulations Matt!!
She looks great!

Hope, there are no damages after landing.

Thanks!! No the tall grass was kind. I think I need to take a bit of nose weight out.

Those are good news.
Do you use mix ailerons+ rudder?

Very nice job Sir. Good flight. Takes some fortitude to rip the covering off a new
plane and start over. I was lucky in that respect as mine was one of the almost
ready to cover version.

Many Happy Flights!

Mike
Thanks. Yes I thought of over about how much work it would be. I decided it would have been more work to try to do it after I assembled it as is and flew it for a bit. Fortunately it was the fall and I had all winter to get it done. It was purchased to learn the ropes before I build and fly my TF Giant F4U kit with Saito FG-90 radial. That one I'll care more about. But this P-51 was a lot of work too so I don't want to prang it in needlessly due to a lack of skill. I'm gonna hit the sport planes hard. I have a cub too that should teach me some "stick and rudder" skills. I'm more of a builder than flier but if they aren't going to fly, then what's the point? Might as well build 1:32 plastic models.

Thanks again

-Matt

No, never have. I could try it. I think I just really need to practice on a slower plane and force myself to move that rudder when the plane is rolling.

Definitely use that mix. Same as in real airplane you have to push rudder pedals in turnings.
Sure it is only about practice. TF P51 is great flyer.
