The only way to go on a gorgeous model like what CARF makes, I'm glad you agree! Can you upload some pics of your plane?

I just ran across this thread. Is there any way to get a set of those drop tanks! Very nice scale appearance. Lane

I don't think so. That was a one time deal with a friend designing and making them for me on a 3D printer. He has since moved and I don't know his contact info.
Sorry

I was lucky he was willing to help out on this project. I was asked by Lt. Col. Bill Getz, the last surviving Scout (out of about 100 in WWII) to head the project for an exhibit on the Scouts to be made for the 8th Air Force Museum in Savannah, GA. I had met the guy who eventually did the tanks out at our flying field; he had made a 3D printed P-38 that flew beautifully and I asked if he would be interested in volunteering to help me on the tanks (I also did this gratis, as Getz is a good friend of mine). He graciously did, mostly to honor Col. Getz and his service in WWII. Together we worked on the design, and he printed out these two babies. I added all the scale tubing and connections to the plane. It all came out very well, but it was a one time deal.

Hope you find someone who can print those up for you. We printed them in three sections: a center, and two end pieces. I think they could have flown very well on a big CARF like that P-51. It was important to add these tanks as they were absolutely essential to the Scouts flying all the way to Germany and back ahead of the bomber stream.

Cheers

Superdave
