Wanted something different so decided to build a Fairey Fantone. Only four ever built and the aircraft never went into production.
Specifications:
Wingspan 85.8"
Weight 11.5klgs
Engine: DLE 35RA Gas 2 Stroke
Covering: Mick Reeves Metalcote and Bemsilk / Sig Koverall
Wasn't an easy build but turned out very nicely indeed. Only real issue was finding somewhere to mount the lead to balance the model. Turned out it probably didn't need that much but thats for the new owner to sort out.
An uneventful test flight until the landing. Will need to sack the aircraft mechanic (myself) as he forget to lock tight the wheel axles. So a perfect landing by the test pilot (Anthony Ogle) resulted in a spectacular double somersault when we lost a wheel. Damage not too bad due to the heavy nose breaking away. Will be repaired by the new owner.
