The Greater South West (GSW) Aero Club will host a regional Scale Masters qualifier this May 18-19. There are a number of categories to enter from ARF to Expert Scale. We usually have a good turnout and the event has been moved to mid May this year vs June. I wasn't in on that change so not sure the reason to change except possibly the Texas heat in June. Plenty of parking and room for trailers - no hook ups and no power except in the pitts area. Reasonable entry fee and free lunch for pilots. Spectators welcome.

The GSW field is on the far East side of Fort Worth off East Loop 820 and Randoll Mill Road.

Due to heavy storms forecast on Saturday, the scale meet is moved to the following weekend, May 25-26.

Already changed my hotel reservations.  Hope to bring a club member to his first scale contest.

Hi Phillip, it's usually a great turnout. Glad they moved the date. Looks like this Saturday will be potentially severe weather. Even with no rain, the winds might be more than anyone wants to fly in. This time of year, we never know. Lane

A photo of the field after the storms on Saturday. I am sure the crews are out today getting the drains and pumps going. Would have been a disaster had the meet not been moved. Should be nice and dry by next weekend.

Congrats to Phil Koury! He won the overall meet with his Bates Wildcat! He made some nice flights, despite the rather windy conditions. I spoke to Phil and was glad to make his acquaintance. He showed me the workings of his Wildcat retracts which worked very smoothly. The retracts have been the one reason I never wanted to take on a Wildcat build as they are fairly complicated. Nice job Phil! Lane

Glad to meet you always nice to put a face to a name.  The winds were at least blowing mostly down the runway.  Thanks to all the club members who contributed to putting on the meet.  The Judges had a full day Saturday with 4 rounds flown and only a lunch break.  I'll be back next year for sure.
