Got back into building flying scale aircraft about 3 years ago after 22 years hibernation. My second build was the Jerry Bates 85" SBD-5 Douglas Dauntless. I had built a 69" Dauntless in my previous scale career (about 30 years ago) and loved its looks and flyability.
It was nice to know my old ability to turn out a reasonable model had not disappeared.
This one is covered in fibreglass cloth, is powered by the Saito FG57-TS Gas Four Stroke. Weight was 26 pounds. Flys like a big trainer.
