I found some pics of a Brian Taylor Hawker Tempest which I built 6 years ago while I was based in Moscow, Russia for 2 1/2 years. I crated it up, but the wing did not survive the flight back to Toronto. It had a brushless motor, and Robart retracts. I made the retracting tailwheel from carbon tube and piano wire. It was painted in Tamiya acrylics which were airbrushed on. The markings were done using the same paints and Tamiya yellow masking tape. I never had a chance to weigh it, but I think it was probably around 9 pounds.
Really nice model of a beautiful airplane Lindsay. I have daydreams of building a Tempest II one day. I love 'em both but for some reason the radial cowl really does it for me. It's got all the sex appeal of a Sea Fury with more wing area!

Thanks Larry and Chad!
It was fun to build but it will be a while before I get around to building a new wing for it. Chad, you can see by my glacial progress on the little Seafire that time is scarce these days. I think that I might just start fresh one day and do a Roy Vaillencourt Tempest V.
I've often admired both of your building skills.
Really nice job Lindsay! Between the Tempest and the Typhoon I'd be hard pressed to say which one I like more. That deep chin cowl is just so brutish... (if that's a word)...
