I am embarrassed to post anything about a ARF project but here it is, a Chinese PAU ARF that I re-did so I could give flying IMAC a try. My good friend finally twisted my arm enough to give IMAC a try, I did not want to spend the time starting from scratch on a model so I went ARF. After looking at the thing I was unhappy with just about everything on the model so I spent just over 300 hours changing things to my liking. I will say it does fly good, but that's about the only good thing that came out of the box. I decided to try the little DLE 60cc twin and boy is that a neat engine! I had to mold some small bumps for the cowling to clear the spark plugs due to the fact that the model was designed for a DA 50cc single cylinder. All the surfaces were re-hinged without the monster "gap" bevel hinge line, I hacked 14" off of the inboard section of the ailerons. Mounted the aileron servo down in the wing and had to move it outboard after cutting down the aileron. All the graphics are hand cut & ironed on, the cowling is of course painted with a homemade stencil. The list goes on & on.....
Now to get back to building real model airplanes

Larry,
Anything you touch comes out magical even a lowly BARF!
I like the spark plug solution. Do you have to pinch the cowl to get it over the spark plug caps?
Did you print out a stencile of the logos then cut them out with an exacto knife?

Thank you Sparky,
Getting the cowl on & off can only be done one way! Believe it or not the cowling does not have to be squished or deformed to make it happen, it is actually a easy task if you know exactly how to twist and jockey the thing.
As for the graphics, Brenda copied a Red Bull logo off of the web, I then enlarged it with my projector to the size I wanted. The correct size was then traced on poster board, cut out, then traced again on to the Ultracote. I used Ultracote over Monokote to try and keep the bubbles to a minimum. Even the flag is done in Ultracote, that was an exercise in patience!
If you look close the red paint on the cowling does not quite match the Ultracote red of the bull on the fuse nose, but it's an ARF thingy so I really don't care.
Now all I have to do is learn to fly some IMAC stuff, that should be entertaining!

Wow Larry, that's quite a transformation!

It's amazing how much work these "ARFs" take to turn them into proper airplanes

Good luck with the IMAC stuff, it's pretty popular around here.
