I just finished up my most recent diversion...a Pietenpol from Steven's Aero...LINKY...

This isn't Big Scale.

This isn't Show Scale.

This is Scale for the Fun of it.

It's only about a 24" wing span.

I saved a little weight by using hand-made spoke wheels from THESE GUYS...the tires are balsa:

And they weigh close to nothing:

Weight is everything on a plane like this, so every gram counts. In the end...the all-up weight came in at 50g:

I absolutely love these little Stevens Aero kits. I've never seen laser cutting so crips, nor have I seen such perfect wood selection. Everything fits together with absolute perfection...and everything you see here comes from Stevens. The radiator and engine/exhaust are all part of the kit, as are the pilot figures. The only change I made was the wheels.

Should be a great little flyer. This is the 3rd Stevens kit I've finished. The other 2 were just as perfect to build...and they both fly great. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Cool Don.
But 50 grams. Why so much?

Very cute, very nice!
Carve something to cover up those white nylon gears, or at least paint them silver or something!
Nice job...

Those wheels look great, and they are a steal at $29 a pair...

Uh... Don... I saw those exact same fingerprints at the post office! Neat little airplane. Perfect for the dawn or dusk flights!

Every time I see one of these amazing little planes , I think how could they not have found a better way to mount the radiator ! It would be so depressing to have such a nice flier with that wall right out in front of your view.....
