Finally! My wife Brenda finished her L-4. She has been at it since March 0f 2011 and it is her very first every build, that's right, prior to this she had never glued two sticks together. She got tired of just helping me at the contests and wanted to get more involved so I mentioned that there was a team class and if she built the model I would fly it for her, so this year her L-4 is going on the contest circuit.
She did all the building, covering, surface detail like rib stitching, and a Klass Kote paint job. I did help her with the mechanical stuff and radio installation.
Now all we need is some decent weather to do a test flight.

Sorry for the poor cell phone photo, I'll take some good ones and post them after it stops snowing.

Very nice ! I love the look of the green house. Did you use a plan, or design from 3 views? Power source ?
Great job!

Dennis

Dennis,
It's built from the old Sig 1/4 scale kit, Brenda wanted a "warbird" so she could take it to Delaware this summer so I did a little modification to make it a Cub with a view. Power is a Saito 115 glow, we are going to fly it on a 16X5 for the first try and then see how it does, it tips the scales at 17lbs empty. Brenda covered it in Solartex fabric and used the 1/4 scale pink tapes from Pinkit. Covering and paint were not a big deal for her as she has helped me cover and paint two experimental homebuilt airplanes, this was just a bit smaller and the rib stitching is fake

Brenda, great job building a classic Warbird. I have always wanted the L-4 version and now I can see you fly it soon too. I hope I can see the maiden when Larry puts air under those great wings and your magnificent bird takes flight. Oh the joy of a Cub in the air.

Well done!

Fantastic model Brenda, congratulations.
Now it's time to learn to fly. Your L4 is the perfect choice. You're up Larry....
