Very saddened to hear this. I was never fortunate enough to meet him, but he was certainly influential in my modeling and interest in scale building and flying. A great loss indeed.

Sad day for the modeling world. Be happy with the wings you get, up there they don't care if they are scale or not and airfoils don't matter! You will be deeply missed

Frank is forever memorialized in my home in the form of the many models in my hangar, built with his products.
God Bless you Frank, may you rest peacefully, and save me a spot in the pits!

His contribution to our hobby was without a doubt spectacular and the scale modeling fraternity much more so. God’s Speed Frank, you will be missed.

I met Frank at the Greater Southwest Jet Meet back in 1986 or 87, at Copeland Field, outside Fort Worth, TX. He was good enough to bring his entire selection of ZAP products and tent for the pilots to come in and grab what they wanted or needed. He also gladly sent ZAP glue packs to M.O.M. winners here at RCSB. And also sent me a nice selection of ZAP glues in support of an article I wrote for M.A.N. a year ago. Frank was very loyal to the hobby and his generous donations proved that. R.I.P. Frank Tiano. Lane

A sad loss for the modelling community today. When I went to Top Gun for the first time in 2013, he was most welcoming to us - we had barely stepped into his office when he wanted to know what we were doing for lunch - off we went to one of his local eateries and we spent a very pleasant hour with him. I really enjoyed his pilot briefings - you were left in no doubt what was and wasn't going to happen. He kindly organised a model one year when I was just going to spectate. It was a very generous offer and as many have said, he was happy to provide support. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and extended modelling family as well - a huge loss for all who knew him.

I only met Frank for a day at TG 2017 and he was very much a larger than life character. Asking for a pass to go on the flight-line as a photographer for RCM&E was daunting, like going before the school headmaster. But seeing the joy on the kids faces during the toffee bombing, and more so the joy on Franks face said it all, a bit of a bear, but a heart of gold.

You will be missed sir
