It blew off in the gentle breeze!
BTW, i do not remember taxing on the grass as in your photo. I also don't remember my own name in a high stress flight. As the Rt. engine is stopped I think that is the end of a landing.
That Rt. engine stopped on all three flights. When it stopped on the second flight I knew my chances of a top place diapered.
I have yet to find out the reason why. I changed the tank before we went as one split but gave them a thorough test idling and sinking when we got there. Perfect.
Went to do the overshoot that is the first time in my scheduled that i go to full idle. Port stopped so I completed the flight on two engines. Even the touch and go.
I concluded that the low idle to get the model stationary with no wind on a hard runway was to low and I should up the idle after T/O. Did that with the help of my caller John Carpenter but it did it again on the second flight.
I upped the idel on that engine a bit more for the third flight and did the trim but it stopped again, this time on landing approach.
Landing and T/O is the big points so it was a big loss. Comps are full of What Ifs.

Is that petro or glow engine'd? I know weight is an issue however onboard glow to sustain the idle through transition to 2/3 throttle with larger displacements is problematic with too rich a low to midrange fuel delivery.
Were you burning your own fuel or event provided fuel?

Glow, Laser 75 s, or 12.5cc . They are old, 25 years! but new in box. Nouthing wrong with the engine. The man who made it was our Team Maneger. Special Laser mix fuel. No weight for on bord glow but I never use that anyway, it just disguises a problem.
As it cut at the end of a flight in 35c heat I suspect a gas lock in a overheated fuel line, perhaps the carb. Some fresh air deflected from prop might cure it.

Odd for Laser 75's to be vapor locking as they tend to be a little under aspirated vs. over size carb'd. faux radial might be messing with refreshing airflow. Interesting circumstance, what would you guess is the landing approach rpm? Making a baffle will push a stagnant eddy flow away from the carb face. Every time I have ever seen Lasers used, regardless the size...they were right on the mark without ever changing.
