The MAD Patrol ran last week from Wed to Sunday. Another great year. The Tidewater club did a great job of hosting. You just got to go if you love WW1 warbirds. Plus this year we got to see the full-scale fly on Sat and Sun.

Here a a few picts of the 3 pit areas:

50% Blow up of GTM D6:

Dr. Vogelsang's 40% Paolo Severin Eindecker E1-won best fo show for it scale fidelity and flying. Gotz could fly it exact scale or as an aerobat:

Full scale D7:

Other full-scale that flew:

Curtis flyer
Dr1
Sopwith half strutter
Jinney
Neuport 17
Several D7s
WACO
Steerman

Just a fantastic array of models: some were exact scale replicas.

OK, a few more:

This Jenny won best Allied: it was exact as you could make it. Flew great, too. Kieth (?) cant rember his last name was the builder.

50% scael Standard; the guy in front is a friend that serves as my pit crew. He is not an RC pilot but I think you can see he had a great time.

I'm looking for the picture of the plane that won best Axis power plane-Mike Gross: it was a highly modifed GTM DR1. Very exact scale, including a scale cable pulley system for the control surfaces. Servos moved stick and rudder peddles; which inturn drove the control surfaces.

Ed,

Great bunch  of WW1 aircraft.  How much flying time are the RC guys given at this event?

There was plenty of flying time, before, during and after the event.  The majority of the flying time was of course before and after.

There was an RC Demonstration during the event.  This was limited to a handful of planes.

Not a single photo of that beautiful AVRO Biplane? The lady in the front seat was perfect for that plane, and the workmanship in that model was fantastic!

It was my favorite airplane there.
