I'm here for scale! I'm very much interested in scale aircraft, and most interested in WWI warbirds.

While I have been interested in R/C since the '70's, and delved into it on and off, mostly out of interest in scale warbirds, Ive yet to fly anything; I have a Freewing Pandora trainer, complete and setup for flying, as well as a Durafly Monocoupe (2nd plane in teh queue to fly), a Phoenix Spitfore Mk. 2, electric, ready save decals, receiver installation and set-up and trim. I also have the Phoenix R/C 5 simulator, joined a club (CMRCM, five miles from home), joined the AMA, and hope to finally break the ice in the Spring. A life-long fantasy finally, hopefully, coming to fruition.

My current 'big' project is a Balsa USA (BUSA) 1/4 Scale Sopwith Pup. I'm absolutely in love with the Pup, and have collected a lot of research material on the prototype. I realize the BUSA kit is designed to produce a sport-scale plane, and I'm constantly struggling to stop myself trying to bash the kit to make it more faithful to the prototype, but I think it's best to finish it mostly per the plans and get it in the air. I started a build thread on this site.

As I mentioned, I just joined Central Massachusetts R/C Modelers, CMRCM. We have a field in Northborough, MA, on the Westborough line, about 5 miles from my house. If you are in the area please say hi.

Glad to be here!

jv (you can call me jv).

Welcome aboard jv!  I am fairly new here as well, and have found a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable people here.  I too am building a 1/4 BUSA kit, first real scale kit and am really enjoying it.

Thanks, Frank. How far along are you with your Pup? Any planned deviations from the straight kit build? What engine are you planning?

jv- Actually, I am building the 1/4 BUSA Nieuport 28.  Considered the Pup but preferred the lines of the Nieuport.  Also have their 1/4 Fokker D.VII waiting in the wings.  Good kits, but you have to read ahead in the manual to stay on top of things!  Planning to use a DA-35 I have sitting here waiting for an airframe.  Good luck with your build, I have signed onto it and will be watching!
