Thought I just might make it to the field this weekend but a few bugs appeared I had to deal with but next weekend looks like the maiden.

It has an 87" WS and is weighing in at 17Lbs with the gasser instead of a nitro engine. Gary Hethcoat (http://www.wingsontheweb.com) designed this, it is a very simple build aside from mating the fiberglass green house to the wing. That took me some time since I had never worked with a build chunk of formed fiberglass like that before, I am sure that the regulars on the site would bust out that problem in hours. I spent the month of March figuring it out.

Well the maiden was completed a few weeks ago and it first flew tail heavy (no cameraman on hand), I took off and few it around a bit then turned it over to my friend Tom who landed it for me. The next weekend after correcting the CG it flew again (no cameraman on hand again), I took it off flew it around twice but turned it over both times to Tom for landings.
Today I was at the controls start to finish and while I flipped it on one of the pilot boxes at the far end of the runway and broke the stab off the cameraman was finally away from the X-Box and on HAND! Thanks son for all the great pics!!
It is a very docile flying plane but has some nasty characteristics on take off and landing, it attempts to lift the tail and nose right on over on take off. Same thing happens on landing if you are not ready for it, she touches down and then begins to lift the tail right on over. I was paying so much attention to keeping the tail down on landing I did not correct with the rudder during my landing and drove off the runway and into the pilots box at the far end of the runway. Since the boxes at my field are asphalt it caused and immediate flip when the mains hit the leading edge and she snapped over and broke off the stab and rudder. It is really not much more than a weekends worth of work to fix it up at least on the outside, I will have to see what I discover once I get the wing off and get a chance to look at it real closely.

One more thing, I do not know if Tom reads the site or not he never mentioned it anyhow but anytime I am out with him good, bad or indifferent I always leave knowing I learned something from him.
Thanks Tom

Neat project Malcolmb and best of luck with the repairs. Did Gary have to bribe you in some way to get his initials on the side?
