Guys, this has nothing to do with a P-51 nor even WWII birds, but I maidened my BUSA 1/4 scale SE5a yesterday afternoon and wanted to celebrate! Couple a pics while it's kinda quiet here in Vic's thread. Sorry if not germain to the conversation, but I think we all love model aircraft, no matter what the era. Lane

Nice looking SE5, I thought only Fokker triplanes were red!

Haha. I looked pretty long to find something different! I like it because most folks do a green box-top rendition. Saw a DynaFlite SE5a on RCU once and it was solid red Monokote. Didn't know it was a scale color scheme, but liked it then. I was a bit surprised to find he based it on the real deal, a Training Squadron SE5a flown by an Aussie. Glad you like her. Thanks, Lane

I'm no fan of WW1 aircraft but that is a cool SE Lane.  Very nice work and congrats on a successful test flight.

Thanks Chad, it wasn't a bad project. Went pretty quick. The BUSA plans were not good in some aspects, but once I got the wing panels and basic fuselage built, it wasn't too bad. I dreaded building a twice-wing bird, but after doing the first set and the learning curve, the second set went very quickly. Right now, think I got the WWI era satisfied, but might still like to do a Fokker DVIII at some point. The amazing thing is that these WWI birds flew in spite of all that drag. Wow.
