I thought I'd go ahead and post some pics of my C-130. This kit was given to me by a retired Coast Guard Captain that used to fly C-130s. I am a retired Coast Guard C-130 Flight Engineer myself. 3 years ago one of my friends was the Flight Engineer on the Coast Guard 1705 that had a midair and went down off of the California coast. All the crew in both aircraft were lost. I did the model in the 1705 markings as a tribute to the crew. I still have to paint the windows and other small details, but the plane is pretty much done. I have about 25 flights on her so far. Electric powered, and I drop paratroops out of the back.

Aaron I flew C-130's as a Loadmaster in Vietnam in 1968-1970. My friend Kenny and I built 2 C-130s from Skip Mast plans, we had no instruction but they come out great. We powered them with OS LA 40's which product more than enough power for the 20 lb aircrafts. We flew them in an AMA Air Show team here in Oklahoma. My 130 lost battery power and crashed during the last air show of the season.   After much thought and determination, I rebuilt the C-130, it gain a couple pounds but still flew great. I sold my 130 a couple years later, Kenny's flew on until he tried to fly through the trees.   Another club member is building it.   Kenny decided he wanted a bigger one, so he blew up the templates and we cut out the foam parts. He is just about ready for the maiden flight.   This bigger 130 is powered by four 20 cc gasoline engines and it weighs 56 lbs.

I did a construction photo documentation of the C-130 build & the rebuild on our club web site http://okbarnstormers.com/ .     We had a lot of fun building the planes of course the Pizza & beer helped.

Here are the pictures

Wing span is 103" , motors are turnigy 4250 600kv(equivalent to .32 glow motors), Turnigy 60 amp speed controls, (4)Turnigy nano tech 4 cell 2650mah. I made the 4 blade props out of two, two blade 11X8 props. The plane was designed by Skip Mast a long time ago. The fuselage is fiberglass, the wings and horizontal stab are foam core balsa sheeted, then fiber-glassed. The plane flies like a big trainer.

Nice Rich. The plane is a big hit at the airshows. Everybody seems to have a story associated with the C-130, and the kids love it when the troops come out of the back.
