Miles M.14 Magister
British 2-seat monoplane trainer. Built by Miles Aircraft. Known as the Maggie, the design was based on the Miles Hawk Major and Hawk Trainer. First flew in 37 and by start of WWII 700 were in service for training. In addition to being the first RAF aero plane to use magnesium alloy castings for stressed parts, it was also the first low-wing cantilever monoplane with full Air Ministry approval for acrobatic flying. Production continued until 41 with over 1200 built by Miles and another 100 licensed to Turkey. The low-wing monoplane with split flaps was ideal intro to the Spitfire and Hurricane. In 1940 up to 15 were outfitted to carry 11.3kg bombs. 16 are believed to be in existence today with several airworthy or being worked on to become airworthy.
