Hi all, just found this site and wish I had found it years ago.
I am a retired British subject but now live in Spain. The weather here is more suited to flying model aircraft than old Blighty. The summers are very hot though and flight time in full sun is limited to about 5 minutes
I have built quite a few models here in Spain, but I now concentrate on 1/4 scale with petrol engines as glow fuel out here is getting very expensive and difficult to obtain without travelling many kilometres.
The large planes I build do have transport problems as I only own a Ford Fiesta, so no passengers as the front seat is always occupied by the tail area. The squab is moved to different positions depending on the plane being carried.
I have built my models from scratch, plan and ARTF. Being retired means I can build fairly quick, four months is normal for scratch and plan but ARTF are usually 2/3 weeks only.
I like to fly aerobatics so all my planes get thrown about with much criticism from fellow members stating that the full size cannot do that, when in fact many full size versions of my airplanes can do most of the moves, the trick is to do them as slow as possible to be scale like. I watch video's of full size doing aerobatics and try to emulate the way the do them.
That's all for now folks
Stuart
