Hi all,
After a 15 year hiatus I am back into scale building and I enjoy every bit of it. Thank you guys for getting me back on track with your inspiring contributions here on RCSB. I am posting a picture of the project started 2006 The plane is 1/4-scale, built from enlarged Phillip Kent plans. Landing gear is constructed of steel tubing and modified 1/8-scale buggy shock absorbers. Not sure whether they are up to the task. They are fully compressed at a 20 lb. load each and have a one inch travel. Model weight is roughly estimated to 22 lbs. A lot of work has been put in the last two months and I am thinking of starting a build thread
Regards, Rune

Hi Rune
Glad to see you working on the Fairchild F-24W. The F-24R is one of my all time favorites and I have both Hostetler plans and parts, as well, as enlarged plans and short kit for a 1/3 scale version.
I will be retired in less than 2 weeks and may work on one of the F-24R pretty soon than after.
I am going to follow your build thread with much interest.
Cheers
Josh

Thanks Josh for the kind words.
I am aware of the Hostetler F24 and will probably purchase the wheel pants offered by Fibertech n More. Not exactly the right scale but I think they will be close enough. Congratulations to your coming retirement.
Rune,
Happily retired since 2017

I have the F-24R plans done by the late Steve Sauger. In my opinion these are the most accurate plans ever made. I had them blown to the same scale as Hostetler's so that I can use his Cowl and Wheel pants from Fibertech n More.

Welcome, Keep at it we can help along the way.
I think if you land gently the gear will be up to the task but if you are going to bang it into the ground I'd double the shocks or stiffen things up.
