Hello,
I'm another "Rip Van Winkle" type who recently got back into the hobby after a long absence. Started as a teenager in 1976, flew until 1991; got involved again in 2017. All of my new airplanes are electric powered (including conversions of some old glow ones), but I'm planning on starting my first gasoline powered 1/4 scale build after Christmas.
Since I started building again in 2019, 1/6 scale WWI planes have been my main effort. I've built a Balsa USA Nieuport 28 (avatar picture), Fokker Dr.1, and Sopwith Pup. Also built a Fokker D.VII and an SE-5a from Manzano Laser Works short kits, and scratch built a Hanriot HD.1 from Tony Eck plans.
I've built the 1/6 scale Sig Clipped Wing Cub for electric power, and like the way it flies so well that the 1/4 scale version will be my next build. Also have an old Goldberg Bucker Jungmann kit on the way.
The more I learn about scale modeling, the more I realize I don't know; so I'm looking forward to exploring this community.
