Hi, my name is John Eaton. I am a member of the Woodland Davis club and have been doing R/C since the late 70's, I guess. In years past I have done plans under the name Golden Era Model Service, and published articles on them and other subjects in Scale R/C Modeler. Like most of us I took breaks as kids grew and work required, but I have kept on drawing, shifting to AutoCad in the 90's. I guess I like to draw. I wish I like to finish projects as much as I like to start them!
Lately I have been setting up drawings for laser cutting, and I am going to start a build thread on the 1/4 scale Culver Dart as soon as I figure out where it is supposed to go. I have done a number of other models for laser cutting but they are old timers, not scale so they do not fit here.
I have a web site for Golden Era Model Service, here:

John, I'm so glad to see you on the site! You can certainly add a lot to the body of knowledge here. I know I'll see you soon at one of your scale contests.
I look at the Heyford stab and fin/rudder every day in my shop. One day the spark will light! I think the fiberglass needed and the landing gear holds me back. Electric motors would certainly solve some problems, but I would need a engine sound system .
Anyway , welcome and I hope to see you soon

Hi, Larry, it's great to hear from you! How is everything? Jim MacDonald retired recently and hopefully we will get him to join in here.
The Heyford drawings are still on the computer, and I have a good 3D program in addition to AutoCad now. If only I could get everything I need to know to use it just poured into my head.....

Hey John, welcome on board! I have seen your drawings and the company name quite often, and the Dart is a favotrite. Best place is probably "Other Designers" or "Scratch Builds" - probably the designers.
I am from SACRC and have been to many WDMA events.

Hello and welcome to RCSB John. I am familair with your name and some of your work and look forward to your future contributions. I would also like to see Jim join up here since I've been pouring over his article on building scale Hellcat flaps and will be trying to reproduce his mechanism on my own Hellcat in the very near future. I think you will find RCSB to be made up of some very fine and like-minded individuals who will make you feel right at home.

Hi, Chad. If you get stuck, e-mail me. I sort of remember how Jim did it as we talked about it at the time. I think it could be done more simply with modern radios, and perhaps a little more scale in the way the flaps worked, as they were coupled to the throttle on the full scale. Not mechanically, but because the full throttle prop wash blew them up from the full down position on take-off. There was a WW II training film Jim had that explained it all.
Jim and I each have Don Lien F6F's to build, I swear I'm gonna do that one right after the Dart. It's been sitting around here, engine, gear and all for nearly 20 years.
