Hello all

Been around flying and building for 40 some odd years.  Spent most of my years building for other folks to be able to be in the hobby for my self and the last 15 working years actually in the design and manufacture business for RC Sailplanes.  Finally sold the business and retired and may finally have time to do some scale (always my first love in the hobby, just never had time) for myself.  Finding this site and the helpfull folks here is the best thing I've done so far:-)  I acquired a 1/5th scale Nieuport 28 arf a while back with minor damage to every single one of the strut mounts.  This requires complete uncovering to repair so I'm thinking that rebuilding this plane with a whole lot more scale detail and correctness (yeah, it's a word:-)  would be a good intro in to the techniques, etc.  Rest assured I'll have plenty of dumb questions as I go along (have all winter for this)  Here's the first one.  Where to get good scale documentation, drawings, etc?

Thanks in advance
Denny

Greetings Denny. I don't have much of an answer for you but I've always found WindsocksDatafiles (Albatross Publications) to be a good starting point. I'm sure the others can give you more specific references.

Where in PA are you? I'm over in the southeast corner (Pottstown).

Hi Denney, welcome to RCSB.

If it is a proctor kit (undercambered wing), you can get plans and 3-views (and parts!) from Proctor Enterprises - google em! - Joe is very helpful.

If it is Balsa USA (flat-bottom airfoil) you can get stuff from Balsa USA.

I am just finishing repairs to a VK 1-1/2 Strutter (sold by Proctor) and it can be a daunting task, so don't be put off by it.

Let me recommend becoming a site supporter as well LINK - way better than any magazine subscription!

Again, welcome to the community!

Hey, thanks all.  Not trying to ignore, things just got crazy for a bit.  Not sure how that happened when you are supposed to be retired  I did become a supporter and am having a blast just looking for now.  Some years back I did decide to try scale and went with Cessna ag wagon.  Made a small (60") version just to see how the design would work out and fly, kind of a proof of concept thingy.  Was gonna post some pics but found out they are way to large to post and I don't know how to reduce them.  Made it from 3 views found on the web.  Flew great and every one at my club thought it was way scale even though it definitely lacked a few hundred hours of detail (like I said, just a proof of concept thing)
Where I fly, it's a race to see who can buy the biggest arf week to week which really turns me off.  Never made the big one as people just started buying arf's of this plane.  Need a project, any ideas?  Golden age, dusters or bush planes.
