Hey Frank, where do you go flying? Do you have a club in Mt. Horeb?

I just upgraded to Site Supporter, but this is my last of 5 posts as a Basic Member, I am not sure if there is a lull between status change.
Bob, thank you for the welcome words! My wife and I visit Lake Geneva about 4 times a year, its a great place to walk around and people-watch!
Sparky, I do have some old 72 equipment, like a "brand new" never-been-used 1991 Narrow Band 7SP Airtronics 7 channel. I can still use it right? I know that some changes were made in the frequency ranges, but when I researched AMA site, the ranges stated were 72. I bought this system for later use , after I was trained-up. The trainer I built in 1984 was shared with another fellow I worked with (it had a Futaba 4ch). One weekend I had to work OT, he didn't, and he took it out and crashed it . Thats when I took this long break.
Well I'll sign off for now, good to be back in the hobby!

There's a Madison-based club, MARCS though I am not a member anymore. They used to have their own field on the East side, but after that was closed down a couple of years ago they now all fly at the field I fly at in Verona. It is located at Badger Prairie Park.

Frank! Oh, the irony!
Back in the early Spring, my wife I were sitting in the Military Ridge/ State Trail parking lot, eating our recently begotten Culver's cheese curds, when out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of a large red biplane. Now I am a former aircraft mechanic, and specialized in vintage restorations here at the Brodhead Airport, so I was at first a little rattled to see this craft do an apparent stall and noseover, then disappeared behind the ridge, but then it dawned on me that this was a large rc! It rose again moments later and was across the highway and being controlled from over the ridge! Well we finished eating, and drove back home.
But I have to tell you, Frank, THAT incident is the seed that grew into my current presence here!

Yes indeed, the field itself is located on top of that hill (an old filled-in landfill). Ironic that this exact field is what helped to push you back into the hobby!
Our field is a little tricky to find the first time, but easy to get to once you find the road. Don't know who the biplane belonged to, not many of them that fly biplanes up there. Also mostly small electric fliers, but there are still a few of us who fly gas and glow powered aircraft. I don't go out to fly that often, preferring to go early weekday morning when it's quiet there. Like you, I prefer to build than fly so I am always content to spend a day off in the workshop!
