Hi everyone, New guy here in Texas, I got into the hobby back in the 80s, took a brake for a while and boy has things changed !!!
Just like my username I’m old school so I will probably be asking some funny questions, looking forward to getting back with it, I hope to retire someday so I’m going to slowly get back up to speed with some of this new school RC LOL.

Oldschool,

Welcome to the site. I’m somewhat in your position for the past six years that I’ve returned to modeling & last two years since I joined this site & I’m still facing a steep learning curve. In fact, I very much doubt I’ll ever catch up, which is okay with me so long as I’m enjoying this hobby. That’s the bottom line. Just kick back, relax a bit & enjoy what you’re doing.

As of this writing, I’ve built (drum roll please) two Guillow’s models, both of which I posted here. I’m currently on my third. Got lots of support & in the process & made lots of friends.

No such thing as funny (or stoopid) questions. Always a good response & like us, everyone has to start somewhere. Yes, some guys have taken modeling to incredible heights & advancements using CAD, 3-D, some have engineering backgrounds, many have their rooms stocked with the latest tools like lathes, milling machines, cutting saws, specialized equipment, 3-D printer & this list goes on.

Me? I’ve got household tools such as a pair of scissors, X-Acto blades, some needle nosed pliers, small pin vise, a drill, screw driver or two, & that’s about it. Still having a good time.

Cheers,

Skye

Yes, becoming a member will be the best $20.00 you will spend.  There are many wonderful modelers, who will help you, offer advice and encouragement.  Building your airplane is far better than buying an ARF plane.

Welcome

Rich
