I originally got into RC back in 1999 and was reasonably active until i had kids.   Since then my plane stuff has just taken up space in the basement. This last summer I got back into the hobby and have been a bit obsessed with it ever since.   I enjoy building almost as much as I like to fly, so of course I needed to have a good project for the winter.

I've built two planes from scratch before this point, the first being a PT-40 trainer.   The second was a Midwest Cap 232.   That plane is more or less done with the exception of decals and hookup of controls, servos, etc.    After reading about all sorts of warbirds on this and many other sites, I settled on the P47 Thunderbolt from Top Flite.     For the last 2-3 weeks, I've been avidly reading all of the P-47 build threads I could find. There is a lot of really great information in there and as a result, I'm probably going to attempt way more in the way of modifications than I ever would have considered on my own.

Look for a new P-47 build thread coming soon. I've got my workshop re-arranged, the kit is in hand, and now I'm waiting for some 3-view and other documentation in the mail.

Hey, weclome Steve - glad you joined us - and took the big step of becoming a site supporter.

The TF P-47 is a great flyer, I think you will be happy with your choice.  Looking forward to your build!

I want to add my welcome to all the above Steve. Welcome-we are glad you found us. The Top Flite P-47 is an excelelnt choice for your first "big" scale build. As mentioned it is a great flyer but will also render a beatifull bird when finished.

I look forward to seeing you build thread.

Thanks for the welcome!   I'm not the first to say that after reading through a number of the builds, I'm willing to take on a bit more in the way of modifications and such.   This should be fun...
