Hello everyone.
Scott from Geraldton Western Australia here.
Warbird fan with no building experience to speak of. Always been keen to build something from plans or a short kit so here I am
Have a few ARF's. ESM Corsair 74" Unknown brand 68" Sea Fury with fibreglass fuse. .40 Sized Ultimate .40 sized Mustang .40 sized SBACH 342 .40 sized trainer modded with Super Chipmunk rudder from a crashed ARF and I have also converted it to tail dragger and enlarged the elevator. Also converted it to two aileron servo's instead of single.
I have some health issues so can only work part time and needed something to occupy the time at home between work.
Purchased a DA-35 gas engine the other day for the ESM Corsair. Have only completed the wing on the Corsair so far. The new engine should compel me to complete the ARF.
Within the next few weeks I will buy a new scroll saw, band saw and belt/disc sander.
Then I will pick a plan from here and get cracking :)
Just need to find someone who can print the plans. No-one locally can do the sheet sizes I need. :(
Anyway great to be here and I look forwarded to seeing all the build threads. And perhaps starting my own :)

Thanks SantafeJack
I have been drooling over the lasercutkits website for a couple of weeks now.
I am on a very strict budget so might have to get a short kit from them and order the timber for the rest of the plane and cut that out myself.
I noticed he is a supporter of the website and has discounts on kits for RCSB members.
I will definitely contact him about a couple of kits I want to do :)

If there is an architect or engineer in your area they may be willing to print the plans for you for a small fee, or maybe free. Ask to speak to the CAD Manager. Just make sure they are printed 100% - it can take some fiddling to get them right.

Welcome to RCSB Scott!
If you are on a tight budget, and you are willing to invest in a scroll or small band saw, then just buy the plans and cut out all your own pieces. I did that for my Hurricane and that had lots of little cut outs in the formers for the stringers... You just need time which it sounds like you have the wirraway is from a lasercutkits short kit, and so far it has been excellent. I just don't have the time to cut out all the intricate pieces now
You will find building a very rewarding experience.... And make your flying a little more controlled
Cheers
Sandy

Hi Scott,
If your like me and a bit short on the 'folding stuff' buy yourself a reasonable quality copping saw, hand drill, stanley knife, some
different grades of sandpaper, a few straightedges, a few squares and triangles and some clamps and your good to go....
I started with a Piper Pawnee PA 25 plan and worked from there... only trouble was I didnt do a perfect job on the formers so
I decided to scrap the whole lot and start again. Its always better to learn how to do it right first than have to make changes,
thats why this site is perfect for learning.
Cheers mate
Shane

Thanks for the replies.
I will grab a coping saw.
I found this video on Youtube and I have a dremel. Anyone cut ribs like this before?
