Was there ever any follow-up news on this?  Is there the remains of a pilot inside that closed canopy?  Are there clear indicators of why it crashed?

I heard it was recovered, had a dodgy make over and is now on outdoor display at an Egyptian museum.

Very easy for pilots and aircrews to get lost in the desert.  It's just miles and miles of miles and miles.  No modern navigation aids to start.  The heat of battle that leaves you....where?  Few landmarks.  Shot down, equipment failure, out of fuel were all frequent contributing factors.  Then there's the sand storms or simply blowing sand.  Nothing in the desert looks like it did yesterday.  Not a place I care to return to.

Flying out of Nevada, I can fully appreciate the description by App. It can be nerve-whacking without modern navigation aids. I know.
