Hello everyone,

I am a new member from Australia to this forum and looking forward to assistance and guidance from the members during the several large scale projects I have planned. I have been a modeller for 50 years starting with chuckies and then control line. I did not move into RC until late, my passion is large scale 1:3 and above, particularly WWl/WWll warbirds and scale gliders. I am about to retire and have five projects already planned for the building board.

Hi Kim, Welcome to RCSB!  I have been buying kits and plans and some supplies, stocking up while I still have funds - a little over 2 years left for me!

If you have not looked yet, check out the site supporter program - well worth the investment!  LINK

Hello Kim,

Welcome to the best RC site on the net.  Jeff gave you some excellent advice when he suggested you join the site.  It will be the best $20.00 a year you'll ever spend.  The depth of knowledge on this site is remarkable and the members of the site are more than willing to help out someone else.

I hope to see you around.

David

Thank you Jeff and David, I will certainly be looking into the site supporter program. I see this as a small investment considering the cost of a large scale model these days, especially when the advice given on any subject can save costly errors/mistakes and time. I have just been through the tutorial section and what great information is available! I am really interested in CNC but I feel that a CAD program is above my understanding or competence.

I have been using AutoCAD for about 30 years now, and sometimes I feel the same way!!!!!!

Seriously - take a look at Autodesk's Fusion 360, as a hobbyist it is a free license.  There are many excellent tutorials on Youtube and elsewhere.  I have seen some total rookies here pick up F360 and produce some excellent work in a short period of time.
