Hello,
I joined RCSB last year and have been reading and learning from the scalemasters in these forums. I have been building aircraft ever since I can remember, my parents probably suspected my addittion ever since I was a toddler and kept a supply of plastic and balsa kits coming that I diligently built. At 10 years old we moved from Madrid, Spain to Cincinnati, Ohio for three years (my dad worked for Procter and Gamble, which is headquartered there). Again, my dad managed to find a LHS (the Flight Box), purchased a Sig Kadet and 4ch Futaba and made us members of the Greater Cincinnati RC Club (GCRCC). I built the Kadet and remember as the happiest times when he would drive me after work to the GCRCC to take my RC flying lessons. This was when the club rented the land to a seminar, the club had a great runway and clubhouse and they taught me how to fly and many tips on building and adjusting models. For example, they told me to solder the kwik-links to the copper cable...I had glued it with epoxy...hey I was only 10... I progressed to a Sig Kavalier and CG Falcon 56...
Eventually we moved back to Spain, I studied aerospace engineering and worked for Rolls-Royce in Derby (UK) as a design engineer and now I am with Airbus in Madrid, as program manager for tanker aircraft.
Starting and raising a family took its toll on the hobby, but a few years back I decided to get back to the hobby and joined a local club in Madrid.
As all our spare rooms are occupied by children (four of them) I build on the dining room table, which means that I have to pick-up my bulding board for dinner every night. So due to time and space the complexity of the builds I tackle is limited, but the enjoyment is great.
I will start a buid thread shortly on my sport-scale project.
Below is a picture in Cincinnati (1981) with my Sig Kadet.

Diego,
Cincinnati was a great place back then. I don't know if the GCRCC field has moved but in 2-3 hours I'm driving over to the current GCRCC field to pylon race over this weekend.
Welcome to RCSB!

Diego,
Welcome to the site. Glad to hear from you & know a bit about you. & your background. As time passes, you’ll get to know us as well.
Me? I was born 93% deaf in both ears. When I was young, my parents sent me to special schools where I picked up on sign language. I can speak orally but telephone conversations can be a challenge. Still, managed to graduate from college with a mathematics degree, but due to the severity of my hearing loss, was discriminated into driving trucks & big rigs for a living.
Despite these setbacks, against all odds I managed to fulfill a lifelong dream of flying & obtained a private pilot’s license with a multi engine rating & several other ratings & certificates as well.
Long story made short: I too have been modeling the whole time. There were breaks in between for raising a family & working. I’m now retired & currently in the process of super detailing a small Guillow’s P-51 for my daughter. Although she’s now a successful surgical nurse practitioner, she’s also a Mustang groupie.
I’m also an occasional resource for detailed photos of various aircraft.
Cheers,
Gary
